Getting to know ...
JP Curley
Chief Technology Officer
Irish born and raised, JP Curley is a dot com veteran who brings long-term vision and short-term chaos to Epitiro.
Curley’s role at Epitiro is to understand emerging technologies and drive forward applications for new markets – something he has done since the tech boom years of the 90’s.
Early in his career JP developed a financial software solution for the UK equity & debt markets and at one point every major trading and investment bank in the City of London had licensed his technology. As a result of this success, Curley moved on to Wall Street and began the development of a similar application framework specifically for the US Bond markets. Following a successful exit from this space, Curley, always analysing emerging trends and forecasting market opportunities, next focused on the domain registry business.
Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI) operated the domain name registry under a sub-contract with the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). With the formation of ICANN, the domain name industry opened up to partial competition, with NSI retaining its monopoly on .com, .net and .org but having to recognize a separation of registry and registrar. Curley designed, built and licensed a registrar/registry software platform for the emerging .US, .NAME and .INFO domains to NSI. During this exciting period in early 2000, VeriSign Inc. acquired Network Solutions Inc. for $US21 Billion.
When not creating waves in the office, Curley surfs the beaches of the world or cycles the many routes of Wales. A graduate of Cardiff University’s Computing Mathematics dept., Curley co-founded Epitiro with CEO Gavin Johns in February, 2000.
